We Are Guardians follows Indigenous forest guardian Marçal Guajajara and Indigenous leader Puyr Tembé as they risk their lives to defend their ancestral lands from relentless invasions and deforestation. On the other side–Valdir, an illegal logger, is trapped in a desperate struggle to make ends meet and sees no other way than continuing to cut down the forest. Directed by Indigenous activist and filmmaker Edivan Guajajara and Southern Oregon local environmental filmmakers Chelsea Greene and Rob Grobman, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, the film has already garnered huge adulations at its festival premieres worldwide and is a story of hope and resilience amidst an unfolding crisis. This event will feature an in-person Q&A with director Chelsea Greene, as well as other surprise guests. We are thrilled to be able to share this unique experience with you and celebrate together the diversity and beauty of this incredible ecosytem.

The screening wll be a fundraiser for the film's impact campaign to support Indigenous communities to protect and regenerate their territories in the Amazon Rainforest. This screening is co-hosted by the Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance community. The film will be released on streaming platforms worldwide in October, and is currently on Netflix Latin America, but the filmmakers want to share it first, on the big screen, with their Southern Oregon community.
