Event Overview
Join us for Water is Memory: Intergenerational Storytelling Across Waters, an intimate and community-centered workshop exploring our relationships to water through story, memory, and shared knowledge. This gathering brings together elders, youth, community members, and students to reflect on the significance of water ecosystem, especially the Hudson River and East River as sources of healing, identity, and sustainability.
Workshop Objectives
- Preserve traditional stories and cultural relationships to water.
- Explore water as a source of spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.
- Connect ancestral water stewardship practices to modern mental health and sustainability efforts.
Program Structure
Opening Circle
A traditional water-honoring song/prayer
Fireside Chat
Elders and water protectors share teachings on sacred waters, conservation, and healing practices.
Story Documentation Breakouts
Participants pair up to document water stories through collage-making, drawing, or short written reflections.
