Waste to Energy: A Workshop on the Feasibility of Small-Scale Digesters and CHP.

The event will be held at West Chester University on December 1st, 2017,10AM - 2 PM and will focus on the emerging markets for small-scale organic waste-to-energy systems. Topics covered will apply to campuses and facilities with cafeterias, food processors, breweries, and small farms and wastewater treatment plants. The seminars will be followed by a discussion and networking luncheon. Students are welcome to attend the seminars. The luncheon is open to non-students involved in related industries such as farming, wastewater treatment, facilities management, waste management, public policy, research/academia, environmental engineering, as well as sustainability and energy professionals with corporations and non-profits.

Speakers will include Dr. John Pisciotta of West Chester University, Ken Smith of SEaB Energy, Jill Santos and Dan Sodomsky of Duryea Technologies.

Dr. Pisciotta- A primary aim of the Pisciotta lab is to develop microbially-based platforms for bioremediation of waste streams into fuels and useful products.

Mr. Smith will present on the applications of Micro-Anaerobic digestion and CHP from food waste.

Ms. Santos will address the specialized market requirements of small-scale CHP and how it informs Duryea’s product offerings. Dan Sodomsky will discuss the technical aspects of designing an engine for biogas applications.
