Walking in Wisdom with Jeff & Terra Mattson
Overview
Most people think of extreme cults when they think of the words “spiritual abuse.” However, far too often toxic faith messages find their way into mainstream Christian communities and go unnamed. With over twenty years of ground breaking research, counseling, and consulting, the Mattsons have found a rise in churches choosing charisma over character, putting unhealthy leaders in positions of authority and causing a systemic wake of harm. Lack of trust and increased disengagement with the Church as a whole has become a current concern for this generation. Addressing the impact of both covert and overt spiritual abuse, participants will understand the most common traits found between spiritually abused survivors and their dissociated and compartmentalized leaders and learn how to help those with church wounds finally heal. Terra, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Executive Coach and Jeff, an Organizational Leadership Consultant and former pastor, have counseled hundreds of church staffs and individuals toward healing and wholeness. If you want to be a part of the solution, this workshop is for you.
The Mattsons are authors, podcast hosts, speakers, and the co-founders of Living Wholehearted, a professional counseling, executive coaching, and organizational development firm, as well as Courageous Girls, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equipping moms to raise daughters who are resilient, confident and rooted in grace. Together, they share over twenty years of experience bridging the gap between biblical, clinical, and relational wisdom, helping leaders, families, and organizations live and lead with integrity. They co-host the Living Wholehearted and Dear Mattsons podcasts, and co-authored Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live.
Terra Mattson, MA LPC, LMFT, serves as the Executive Director of Courageous Girls and brings over two decades of experience in trauma-informed therapy, executive coaching, and church ministry. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and professional counselor, Terra wrote Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace and the Courageous Girls curriculum. Jeff Mattson, MA ORGL, is an executive coach and organizational development specialist. Jeff is known for his insightful, practical approach to building trust, health, and integrity in organizations. Their work has been featured on the Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast, American Association for Christian Counselors, Forward Magazine, Christianity Today, Right Now Media, and more.
Jeff and Terra live outside Portland, Oregon and have two daughters.
