About this event
Join My Sister’s Place, one of DC's oldest Domestic Violence non-profits, on Saturday, October 18th, for a community walk along the Metropolitan Branch Trail to raise awareness about domestic violence and support survivors and their families.
This interactive event invites participants to stop at local businesses along the Metropolitan Beer Trail for activities, purple-themed drinks, and opportunities to learn more about domestic violence services in the DC community. By walking together, we send a strong message: no one walks alone.
Event Highlights:
- Trail Walk: A self-paced walk along the Metropolitan Branch Trail, beginning at Wunder Garten and continuing to partner stops.
- Community Stops: Enjoy purple cocktails, mocktails, and activities at local favorites including City-State Public House, Metrobar, Lost Generation, and Wunder Garten.
- Raffle Prizes: Purchase a $10 passport to collect stickers at each participating brewery for extra chances to win the grand prize. Each stamp equals one entry into our grand prize drawing!
Grand Prize🎁
- $110 Gift Card — Chef Geoff’s
- $100 Gift Card — Red Hen
- Audio-Technica Record Player — Donated by Spin Time Records
- 2 Tickets to The Dirty Dozen Band (Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 8:00 pm) — donated by Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts (non-transferable, non-exchangeable)
- More prizes may be coming!
- Clothesline Project: View a powerful art installation sharing messages of hope and resilience from survivors at Alethia Tanner Park with more family friendly activities at the park!
Why Attend?
Your participation directly supports My Sister’s Place, DC’s oldest domestic violence shelter and the only one serving the entire family—including survivors and their children. Donations will support our Annual Sponsor a Family initiative, providing gift cards to families in our care for the holidays to cover holiday gatherings, gifts, and essentials.

Huge Shout-Out! 🎉
