Voices of the Desert
Overview
Doors open at 6:00 PM on Saturday, 8 November, for food and drinks, with readings beginning at 6:30 PM. Set against the magical backdrop of The Palms in Wonder Valley, Voices of the Desert promises one of the festival’s most atmospheric and unforgettable evenings. Organized in partnership with the Desert Writers Guild and the Mojave Sage Writers Association, this outdoor gathering celebrates writers whose work springs from the landscapes, histories, and eccentricities of the Mojave. The event will be guided by Master of Ceremony Vic Terry, organizer of the Hi-Desert Comedy Campout and a spirited curator of desert arts events. Known for blending warmth, wit, and spontaneity, Terry creates the perfect atmosphere for artists and audiences to connect under the open desert sky. The evening’s lineup features a diverse chorus of desert voices: Cindy Rinne, Ruth Nolan, Jennifer Germano, John Sierpinski, Carla Fernandez, Kate Spencer, Kent Wilson, Kristina Ten, Jay Jones, Derrick Davis, Megan Haugh, Nico Slate, Michael G. Vail, Francis Moss, George Bixley, Abigail Stewart, and Damien Gosset—each illuminating the desert’s strange beauty through story, poem, and performance. Come early, settle in with a drink, and let the Mojave speak through its writers and musicians. Friday, November 8 | 6:00 PM – The Palms in Wonder Valley
