Event Purpose:
The ERG Symposium, hosted by SHPE DC and SHPE Virginia Tech (SHPE VT), aims to cultivate meaningful connections between students and professionals by showcasing the collaborative power of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). The event highlights the importance of diversity, leadership, and community in shaping inclusive workplace cultures while empowering the next generation of STEM leaders through engagement, mentorship, and career-building opportunities.
Event Description:
Join SHPE DC and SHPE Virginia Tech (SHPE VT) for the Employee Resource Group (ERG) Symposium—an engaging evening dedicated to connecting student leaders, ERG professionals, and industry representatives in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The symposium will feature a keynote speaker who will share insights on inclusive leadership, representation, and the evolving role of ERGs in today’s workforce. The program will also include a panel discussion with ERG representatives from Accenture DC Hispanic American (HAERG), Dominion Energy Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA) ERG, and Hispanics in Energy - Virginia (HIE-VA), highlighting how cross-generational leadership and shared values can drive innovation, mentorship, and professional growth.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a resume and LinkedIn optimization session hosted by Bank of America, visit company and organization booths, and receive free professional headshots to support their career development. The evening will conclude with an open networking session, allowing students and professionals to connect directly with recruiters, ERG members, and peers from various industries and academic institutions.
Admission to the event is free, with tickets available on a limited basis.
Food will be provided for all registered attendees.
Professional attire or business casual is encouraged
