Voices in Action, TMI Project’s anticipated annual benefit and storytelling showcase, will have BSP Kingston abuzz this year with true confessions from young storytellers, DJ Ali spinning tunes, drag queens and kings breathing colorful life into the room, spirited cocktails and mocktails, and more.

On September 29th, we’re honoring James Lecesne, Academy Award-winner and co-founder of The Trevor Project, a national LGBTQ suicide lifeline, with the 2018 Voices in Action Award for his vital work and dedication to end suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. And this year, we’re shining a spotlight on the many local teens and young people who’ve bravely and candidly shared their stories in TMI Project workshops and performances in recent months.

TMI Project will also be recognizing three local leaders and activists as TMI Project Agents of Change: Amy Kapes, Kingston High School social worker; Kale Kaposhilin, co-founder of Moonfarmer and Evolving Media Network; and Odell Winfield, director of The Library at the A.J. Williams-Myers African Roots Center.

Voices in Action will be held at 8 pm in the theater of BSP Lounge, a nightclub in the historic Stockade district. The evening will feature live storytelling performances showcasing young storytellers from our recent production, 13 Reasons Why NOT and #blackstoriesmatter @ Kingston High School. Join us for the pre-show cocktail hour at 6:30 pm where you can mix and mingle with James Lecesne, the local honorees, our storytellers, TMI Project board and staff and be the first to share YOUR story in our mobile TMI Confessional Booth.

General admission tickets for the show are $75, premium tickets are $100 and include the pre-show cocktail hour and premier seating; 10% discount for tickets purchased before August 31st.

All proceeds from Voices in Action will be used to support TMI Project programming in 2019 and will help bring our transformative storytelling workshops, live performances and digital campaigns to more people in our community and beyond. These programs make a significant difference in helping amplify the voices of populations whose stories often go unheard.
