Rescue your scuffed, moth-eaten, or well-worn items using embroidery! Learn from textile artist Sandra Brick how to keep your clothing out of the landfill, and keep our planet happier by applying mending techniques to your goods as they age and wear. You’ll learn to add colorful decorative mends with techniques like weave darning using embroidery floss and a needle. These techniques can be applied to both knit and woven fabrics. We’ll provide everything you need to learn the basics, but you may feel free to bring a personal item to mend if you wish!

This class is for 16+ year-olds and adults.

Sandra Brick is a trainer, coach, and educator with over 21 years of experience with the Textile Center both as an instructor and former Board member. She has designed and developed 35+ workshops and courses in a diverse range of workshop topics such as fabric dyeing, design theory, beading, creative problem solving, and technology workshops for artists. Brick’s explorations in new materials and techniques have inspired her innovative body of work in surface design, stitching and mixed media, which has been widely exhibited.
