DownToDash and Lair East presents a night of networking & learning from Venture Capitalists and angel investors.

We have some amazing speakers that will be sharing tactics and strategies for startups and raising money.

Panelists:

1. David Segura - Investor & Entrepreneur

David Segura is an accomplished Entrepreneur & Investor with experience in wide variety of industry verticals including Marketplaces, FinTech, and Consumer categories among others.

David has developed a reputation for being a Founder Friendly investor who adds value. A cross selection of current investments include Hawthorne, Grove Collaborative, Eaze, Mogul, Peer5, and many more.

David is also well-known for founding and scaling Giant Media, where he served as the CEO from inception through the acquisition. The company was an early Video Advertising exchange that included Toyota, American Express, L'Oreal, and Dollar Shave Club as clients among many others. Launched with a single investment of $7,000, Giant Media was successfully acquired in 2014 by Adknowledge, an AdTech platform funded by TPG, JMI, and Nokia.

He is a proud graduate of the University of Chicago.

2. Becky Yang - Operating Partner The Fund

Becky Yang has been in growth, strategy and operations over the last 19 years in startups, investment banking, VC, and philanthropy. She is operating partner of The Fund, an early stage VC in NY. She is founder of Lin Lane a growth advisory and investment consultancy. Prior to this she was an operator at Summit Series and WeWork, overseeing areas of growth, expansion, operations and business development. She began her career in financial services at Citigroup and Lehman Brothers, and also spent time in social impact work at the Clinton Foundation, working in NY, London, Hong Kong, and Beijing.

Becky serves on the board of the Rainforest Foundation, is a mentor for ERA accelerator, is a founding pod leader at the women’s leadership group, Declare, an ultra-marathoner at Racing the Planet/4Deserts and certified yoga instructor. Becky received a Bachelors of Science from Vanderbilt University and MBA from Columbia Business School. She is the mom of two boys (son Rafa and puppy Barkley).

3. Mahbod Moghadam - Investor & Entrepreneur

Mahbod Moghadam is an internet entrepreneur and investor. He is the founder of Genius - an app annotating the meaning of lyrics - and Everipedia, which is the "chill" version of Wikipedia. Mahbod is Iranian but was born in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of Yale University and Stanford Law School and is an accomplished pianist. He is currently angel investing and looking to build a third app in Brooklyn.
