• This Basic Gap training will take place in two installments, Monday, July 28 and Tuesday, July 29 from 4:00pm - 8:00 pm both days. Attendance on both dates is required for credit.
• Course materials will be sent electronically.
• You must attend both dates to receive an MDA GAP training certificate.
Attendance will be checked throughout. Partricipation is encouraged.
Attending a Basic Gap Course May Be Right for You if...
• You grow fruits or vegetables and are interested in developing a good food safety plan to increase operational efficiency and build a food safety culture.
• You want help in writing your food safety plan.
• You are looking to learn more about how microbes live and interact with farm environments, and/or
• You have a potential buyer that requires a Gap certification
What You'll Get from This Training
• Tips on how to implement practices to minimize your food safety risk during growing, harvesting, holding and packing fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Practice conducting risk assessments.
• Practice writing Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assistance on writing your food safety plan (aiming for 75% completion!)
• A Maryland Department of Agriculture GAP training certificate.
