New government funding is enabling the construction of projects nationwide designed to capture, transport, and store carbon dioxide. What does investment in these technologies and infrastructure mean? What are the potential impacts or risks? What mechanisms are in place to prioritize environmental and community safety? How can your community potentially capture benefits from these new investments, and be involved in decisions about these projects?

Join community, labor, nonprofit, environmental, research, economic development, and local government stakeholders for an interactive workshop about carbon capture and carbon removal projects with geologic sequestration.

The goals of the workshop are:

• For the Department of Energy and other government agencies to listen to community priorities, concerns, and ideas related to carbon projects, and learn how community members would like to be involved in projects moving forward.

• For community members to learn about the kinds of carbon projects that might be proposed, how federal agencies regulate projects to mitigate impacts, and opportunities for public participation.

This virtual workshop follows a series of four in-person workshops held in November and December 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Corpus Christi, Texas; the Tri-cities region of Washington state; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This virtual workshop will include regional breakout groups and discussions.
