Overview

In this workshop we will discuss the concepts of game development and students will get an opportunity to learn how to code in Scratch!

In this workshop, students will learn about the elements of simple games and learn how to create a story with their game. Students will dive into popular games and decompose them into their elements in a group discussion. Students will be introduced to Scratch by playing a few fun games and decomposing them. They will apply their learning by creating their own game at the end of the workshop and showcasing them. While they are creating the game, students will be exposed to the full software development cycle.

What students will learn: Elements of simple games, coding principles with Scratch, how to decompose and understand a game, software development cycle, computational thinking


Age group: 6-11 year olds with little to no coding experience

Exact time: 1-2:50pm on Saturday December 6th
