VET & NSCD Ski Day – Learn to Ski or Snowboard Day
Overview
Join Veterans Exploration Therapy and the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for an empowering Learn to Ski or Snowboard Day at Winter Park Ski Resort!
This full-day adaptive recreation experience welcomes veterans with documented disabilities to learn or advance their snow skills — whether on skis or snowboard. No experience necessary!
Led by certified NSCD instructors, participants will enjoy small-group lessons tailored to ability and experience level. This is more than just a lesson — it’s a day of camaraderie, confidence-building, and adventure on the mountain.
📅 Date: Friday, December 5, 2025
📍 Meet Location / Departure: Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Colorado — meet at 6:45 AM for NSCD transport
📍 Ski Resort: Winter Park Ski Resort
🕒 Schedule:
- 6:45 AM: Meet & load at Jefferson County Fairgrounds
- 9:00 AM: Gear fitting at Winter Park
- 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM: Full-day lesson with 1-hour lunch break
- 5:30 PM: Return to Jefferson County Fairgrounds
🎿 Who: Veterans with a documented disability
🏔️ What: Ski, snowboard, ski-bike, or sit-ski full-day lesson
🚌 Transportation: Provided by NSCD (round-trip from Jeffco Fairgrounds)
🎟️ Provided: Lift ticket, rental equipment, and instruction
Additional Details:
- No prior experience required.
- All participants must wear a helmet.
- No weight limits for stand skiing or snowboarding.
- NSCD does not rent outerwear, but some extra goggles are available.
Why: To bring veterans together for a supportive, skill-building experience on the mountain — encouraging confidence, healing, and community connection through adaptive outdoor recreation.
