Course description:
Join our brand-new iPad Art Class taught by Catherine Stone, and learn how to draw and paint effortlessly—anytime, anywhere! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, you’ll love the freedom of creating stunning landscapes, portraits, pets, flowers, and abstract art without the hassle of traditional supplies. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to paint—without hauling out the brushes, paint tubes, and turpentine—this class is for you.
You will learn digital painting using an iPad and a simple app called ArtSet. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced artist looking to try something new, you’ll learn how to create beautiful, expressive art.
What you will need:
A completely charged iPad (with IOS 12.4 or later)
A stylus, ipencil, from Apple is optional but great for very fine detail—otherwise, we will use our fingers to draw!
Before class begins, download ArtSet from the App Store onto your iPad. ArtSet is available for one-time purchase. ($12.99).
Basic knowledge of how your iPad functions (i.e., where your photos are kept, how to send an email or text, and how to keep the iPad charged).
About the Instructor:
Catherine Ann Stone is a visual artist, author, and digital design pioneer born in New York and raised in Fairfield County. After earning a Fine Arts degree from American University and studying at the School of Visual Arts, she worked in stage production and photography, including a formative role with legendary art director Henry Wolf in NYC—where she also met her husband and creative partner, Terence Kruska.
Together, they founded Manhattan Concepts in Westport, CT, becoming early adopters of Apple technology and developing communication materials for major Fortune 500 companies. Catherine later authored Down to the Marrow, a laugh-cry memoir chronicling her battle with blood cancer, which continues to inspire readers across the country.
Today, she works with Chroma Sites, the family’s next-gen web design firm led by her son and teaches iPad painting—offering a mess-free, joy-filled way for anyone to explore their creativity.
