$8 (advance), $10 // 21+VarsityDivino NiñoBeach Bunny----------Chicago group VARSITY are back after opening for one of our massive #EB25 sold out shows with THE HOLD STEADY. They’re bringing along their sunny garage-pop that's making all the boys and girls (in America) wet themselves with excitement. After creating major buzz with their first two albums, Thanks for Nothing and a self-titled effort in 2015, they're here tonight to celebrate the release of a spankin' new LP, Parallel Person, out this very evening on Babe City Records!DIVINO NIÑO is joining the fun, brigining along their sexy dream pop for ya'll to trance off to. But let it be known, these bois considers their genre to be “bootleg-ass-pop” and if I had to speak from the heart, that’s our favorite type of pop. A sound that’s reminiscent of MAC DEMARCO’S Salad Days, DIVINO’S The Shady Sexyfornia Tapes encapsulates the dreaminess, but with a sexy Latino twist and hair that DEMARCO could never touch.BEACH BUNNY’s Lili Trifilio embarked on a solo music project in 2015, with tunes reminiscent of contemporary alt-pop and "sadgirl" music. Adding backing musicians Matt Henkels (guitar), Jon Alvarado (drums), and Aidan Cada (bass) to her live performances in 2017, BEACH BUNNY has blossomed into a local favorite, playing melancholic hits drenched in sunshine-y surf rock. From people falling head over heels for Lili's sweet voice and catchy composition style, their latest EP, Crybaby took Chicago by storm while it drew inspiration from heartache, her brother fighting cancer, struggles of being a female in the scene, and the everyday struggle of just plain existance. “Sports” is the first track collectively worked on by the four-piece alt-pop band this year and rumor has it, we can expect a whole heap of full-fledged BEACH BUNNY very soon.
