We will explore the importance of questioning to build a culture of Inquiry and the importance of students formulating their own questions.

About this Event

Overview

Young children are natural question-askers but as students move into upper grades research shows that questioning starts to decline. As questions start to decline so does possible engagement. In this workshop we will not only be diving into to importance of questioning but also a strategy to help students formulate their own questions. We will explore the importance of thinking broadly and creatively, synthesizing and analyzing, and finally thinking about one’s own learning and how this relates to formulating questions and becoming self-directed learners. Join the TGR EDU: Create Educator Community as we explore these strategies in a FREE live event on Wednesday, October 14th at 9am PDT or 4pm PDT.

This live digital workshop is more than your traditional webinar.  All attendees are encouraged to connect via video conference – you will have the opportunity to share and contribute along with your peers!  Join us on Wednesday, October 14th at 9am PDT or 4pm PDT to learn, discuss and develop strategies to effectively implement project-based learning in the digital classroom.

FAQs

When will I receive the link to join the meeting?

Everyone who registers will receive the meeting link via a confirmation email from Eventbrite.  A reminder email, also with the meeting link, will be sent out two days prior to the event (in this case, on Monday, October 12th).  Please add the event to your calendars!

What type of software will I need?

We will be utilizing a meeting platform called Zoom.  You can download the Zoom client in advance for free (https://zoom.us), otherwise simply click on the Zoom meeting link provided and you can join via your web browser.

Do I need a webcam to participate?

Although not required, all attendees are encouraged to use their webcam to participate in the session.  If unavailable, however, you can still join with voice only.  Since this is an interactive session - with slideshow, camera and other elements planned - it is best experienced on a computer.

Do I need anything else to participate?

There may be an interactive small-group activity planned.  You will not need to have any additional supplies on hand, however, as the activity will be completed using cloud-based tools.
