Come and learn how to use fresh ginger for pickling and other fun recipes as well as some of the health benefits ginger provides.

Discover the vibrant flavor and satisfying craft of making your own pickled ginger—also known as gari—in a hands-on workshop featuring fresh young ginger grown right here in our high tunnel. This unique class invites participants to explore the culinary traditions behind this beloved Japanese condiment while creating a jar to take home and enjoy. Whether you’re a sushi lover, home cook, fermentation enthusiast, or simply curious about working with seasonal farm-grown produce, this workshop offers a flavorful and fun culinary adventure. Class will be held at the Currituck Extension Center from 1-3pm on December 10th, 2025. The class fee of $10 will cover class material, produce, and the jars of gari that you will be taking home and eating.
