Event description

Description

Join the USC Marshall Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab for the first Lunch & Learn of the school year, featuring Marc Rahlves, chief operating officer of Nuru International.

Nuru International equips local leaders with the tools and knowledge to build self-sustaining, self-scaling impact programs to lift their remote, rural communities out of extreme poverty within seven years. The Nuru model is holistic, sustainable and scalable, and each project is developed with clearly defined exit strategy and criteria. By working with local leaders, Nuru integrates impact programs that address the most prevalent and fundamental challenges of extreme poverty around four areas of need: hunger; inability to cope with financial shocks; preventable disease and death; and lack of access to quality education for children. Rather than give handouts, Nuru designs training-based poverty solutions that promote self-reliance and service-mindedness to enable local leaders to continue scaling impact long after Nuru International staff has exited the project.

Marc Rahlves currently serves as the COO of Nuru International and has over 15 years of experience in strategy consulting and general management. He worked for nine years with Bain & Company managing strategy development, operational improvements, private equity and implementation projects in Europe, Asia, Australia and the U.S. Marc also served as the chief financial officer of the global education nonprofit Escuela Nueva in Colombia before joining the Bridgespan Group in New York. Marc earned his MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and has a B.S. in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Lunch will be provided to registered attendees.
