About this event

San Francisco and cities across the country are grappling with overlapping crises: fentanyl is claiming lives with no cure in sight, housing shortages are driving visible suffering on our streets, and people with behavioral health emergencies aren’t receiving proper care.

Founded in San Francisco in 2018, Urban Alchemy is challenging decades of outdated social service models by employing and training people who have lived experience with incarceration, addiction, and, homelessness to provide trauma-informed care and services in the communities hardest hit by addiction, homelessness, and poverty.

In this conversation, Urban Alchemy CEO Dr. Lena Miller will share how the organization is creating cleaner, safer, and more compassionate communities here in San Francisco and in communities nationwide by innovating new models for the social services sector.
