About this event

  • Event lasts 8 hours

Up With Downsizing is a celebration of following your dreams, finding your calling, and making your dreams become your reality! This event will also be raising money for local non-profit Urban Peak, and their goal of providing a full convergence of services solely focused on one of the most vulnerable populations in our community: youth ages 12 through 24 who are experiencing homelessness.

Here's a rough timeline of the day's events:

Noon-Chain Reaction opens. The event starts with a free fun game/entertainment event with Brain Reaction Trivia (with prizes).

Local artists & vendors will be on site:

-LLP, LLC: upcycled fashion

-Melty Toast: fun 3D printed thingys

-Athmar Farms: locally grown produce

-Wai Side Blues: metal/stone jewelery & unique items

-CVLTICA: art from the dark side

-Scott Hammel Photography: nature photos/prints

CUPBOP food truck will be on site: Korean BBQ in a cup, with a delicious variety of items for vegetarians, meat-eaters, and snackers alike.

Chain Reaction will be tapping a special Collab beer for the event, with $1 from each pint sold going to Urban Peak!

SUNDANCE the Unicorn will also be present (weather permitting) for photo ops!!!

1pm-7pm: A variety of original musical acts.

-Jess D'arbonne: a one-of-a-kind singer/guitarist with unique song selections, amazing fingerstyle picking/strumming/thumping techniques, and mesmerizing operatic-trained vocals.

-The One And Only Jon Ham: live-looping one-man-band, and organizer of the festival. His looping techniques create the sound of a full band by layering acoustic & electric guitars, bass, electronic drums & acoustic percussion, and vocal harmonies.

-Lady Los: a local R&B legend, her inspiring songs cover a variety of styles and subjects, all tied together by her positive vibes and sultry vocals. Lady Los has performed at past Up With Downsizing events solo (with a DJ) and with a 3 piece band backing her, but this year she is teaming up with friend and Chain regular Cliff on guitar to showcase some of her tunes in a special duo format. See why Westword called her "one of Denver's top R&B artists."

-Surviving April: a classic pop-punk band consisting of current & former Chain Reaction employees, Surviving April reunited to play last year's event after 9 years. And they ROCKED it! We're so excited to bring them back again this year to pump us all up.

7pm-8pm: A special final spectacle to cap of the festivities this year (although Chain will still be open and serving beers later than this, so it's also kindof the start of the afterparty).

Frequently asked questions

Is there really going to be a live unicorn present? Can I ride it?

Yes, there will be a live unicorn present (weather permitting). No, you cannot ride the unicorn. Sundance is getting old, and we're lucky enough to have a live Unicorn there hanging out with us.

How much does this free festival event cost?

Up With Downsizing is totally free! Anyone trying to sell you tickets or vendor passes is a scamming POS.

A totally free festival event? That's awesome. How can I possibly thank you?

Thanks for asking. You can thank us by supporting all the awesome people involved. Buy some drinks from the brewery, get food from the food truck, talk to & support the artists & vendors, TIP THE BANDS/follow them online/share pics/buy their merch, and donate to Urban Peak Denver!
