Unveiling Bony Ramirez's new public artwork: Is Blue the Color of the Ocean?

Join Bony Ramirez for a morning focused on art with an engaging art and creative process-centric panel discussion, audio storytelling, light bites, focused on Ramirez's newly installed sculpture on The Underline. Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your connection through art in nature.

Is Blue the Color of the Ocean? is a large upright circle composed of fiberglass silver coconuts and a single gold-colored conch shell. The sculpture has a double meaning, representing both the ubiquitous necklaces circulating throughout the Caribbean via tourist shops and street vendors and a mythical portal transporting people between two worlds. This sculpture is a representation of the passage of time, those first few months that a lot of immigrants go through trying to assimilate to a new country and realizing how a place so far from home can feel as welcoming as your own country.

⁠ 🚗If you drive, please use nearby public parking lots at Brickell City Centre and Mary Brickell Village. Then walk to the Urban Gym on SW 1st Ave between SW 8th and SW 7th streets.
