Jacque Hammond is a genre-bending singer, writer, and first-time filmmaker based in Portland by way of Los Angeles. Originally from Joliet, Illinois, she has written, produced, and performed for over a decade. With creative origins in poetry and storytelling, she is passionate about using her art to inspire the imagination
Her musical releases include Lazy Love (2012), Black Fantastic (2013), Elbow Room (2016), and Green (2021). She has collaborated with artists such as Rob Milton, Aeden K, Roman Norfleet, and has performed live with artists such as Kelsey Lu and V.C.R. Her latest work in progress, In My Own Image, is the culmination of all of her work, and a full circle moment of her creative origins and practice with the intention to inspire hope.
She has always been passionate about community building and expansion of the arts through advocacy and co-founded a community benefit musical and film festival in her former homebase, Los Angeles. Since relocating to Portland in 2021, she has immersed herself in serving the community through education advocacy, thought partnership, and through the arts. She has been deepening her practice in ecospirituality and ecojustice.
She is a 2023 recipient of Portland Institute For Contemporary Art’s Precipice Fund and a 2025 Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center (IFCC) artist. Her latest work in progress, In My Own Image, is a spellbinding exploratory musical short film unearthing a journey of identity and existence through an EcoWomanist lens.
She is a member of Portland’s Afro arts collective Be Present Art Group and alternative soul project WRK! Her music has been featured on Pitchfork, OWN, STARZ, Max, Tribeca Film Festival, and more.
