November 4th - Reactivity With People & Other Dogs

Maria Huntoon, CBCC-KA, CPCN

Behavior challenges often signal deeper needs. Reactivity and aggression in dogs (whether with other dogs, new people, resource guarding, etc.) is often rooted in fear and insecurity. To truly address the issue, we must work at its root. Dogs need calm, respectful leadership, positive reinforcement, and gradual exposure to triggers within their comfort zone. Understanding canine body language and setting up safe, structured learning environments are key to helping dogs build confidence and impulse control, and reduce reactivity. While aggression is complex and requires time and patience to address, with proper guidance and consistent support, meaningful progress is possible. Come learn how to create a compassionate plan that supports lasting change and stronger bonds between you and your dog.
