The Intro to I-Corps Workshop is a University of Houston program that allows faculty and students to be introduced to the National Science Foundation I-Corps lean launch methodology for starting a company. This curriculum is employed for universities across the country for students and faculty who are interested in advancing their technology and establishing a strategy for commercialization.

This workshop and associated customer discovery are intended to establish a product-market fit, the business model and improve the odds of success of receiving university grant funds and commercializing the technology.

If successfully completed, teams can receive up to a $500 stipend. Teams can also qualify for further I-Corps workshops, and potentially, an NSF grant of $50,000.

In order to participate, teams require the following things:

• 1-5 members of a team that are hoping to commercialize UH technology (can be a combination of faculty and students)
• Time commitment: opening workshop + approximately 15-20 hours for customer interviews
• Understanding of proposed technology
• Right to use technology
