Understanding Shame

Overview

For staff to have a deeper understanding of Shame, how it presents itself and impacts on young people.

This course will be a practical and experiential exploration of shame and our understanding of what it is. This includes how shame differs to guilt and how it impacts children in school. We will identify toxic shame and why some shame can be more helpful. We will develop practical and relational ways to help children and young people recover from shame and enhance their lower levels of self-esteem.
