Training Description

Co-occurring personality and substance use disorders present some of the most complex challenges in clinical practice. This comprehensive 6-hour workshop explores the diagnostic frameworks of the DSM-5-TR, highlighting how personality pathology and substance use interact, overlap, and reinforce one another.

Through guided instruction, case-based learning, and interactive discussion, participants will deepen diagnostic accuracy, enhance treatment planning, and strengthen their capacity to manage complex dual-diagnosis presentations. Emphasis is placed on integrated care models, ethical practice, and culturally responsive approaches.

Participants will learn to:

– Differentiate between SUD symptoms and personality traits.
– Apply DSM-5-TR criteria with precision and cultural sensitivity.
– Recognize the impact of trauma, impulsivity, and emotional dysregulation.
– Implement evidence-based, integrated treatment strategies for lasting recovery.
