Understanding Fatherhood for Dads and Partners (Online)
Overview
This curriculum is designed for new fathers and partners to be able to:
• Develop a plan for connecting with their child during the pregnancy, including going to prenatal classes and doctor visits with Mom.
• Prepare their homes for the arrival of their baby with safety in mind, including a focus on safe sleep.
• Identify ways they can assist during labor, birth, and the hospital stay
• Recognize the emotions they may feel during the first few months of being a father and partner and know when to get help for depression.
• Gain confidence in their role as a father and supporter by learning specific ways to interact with their baby from birth and as they grow, as well as how to be supportive of breastfeeding.
• Use effective communication techniques with their partners both before and after the baby is born.
• Find resources and support for parenting.
• Practice self-reflection on their positive contribution to their child’s life
