About this event

Understanding Big Behaviors: Brain-Based Insights helps parents understand and support the development of executive function (EF) skills in children who have experienced trauma. EF skills, which include planning, focused attention, remembering instructions, and managing multiple tasks, can be significantly impacted by trauma, leading to various behavioral and cognitive challenges. These challenges often feel to caregivers and professionals like willful defiance, causing them to respond with anger and punishments. This training provides insights to help recognize poor executive function as the root cause of many frustrating behaviors and offers practical strategies to support children and youth to build strong EF skills, thereby reducing frustration and distress for both children and caregivers.
