Event description

Description

Do you work in child protection or child safeguarding?

Are you working with people affected by harmful sexual behaviour, and their families, as part of your role?

Do you have questions about the reality of people who commit sexual abuse and what you, and your organisation, can do to prevent and respond to it?

ATSA invites you to a professional engagement and networking event on preventing and responding to sexual abuse. The aim of the event is to support professionals in their work relating to sexual abuse and share good practice from the field. The event is aimed at professionals who work in roles and/or organizations that deal with issues related to safeguarding and sexual abuse (including individuals who work for schools, clubs/societies, charities, sports organizations, etc). Join other professionals to hear more about,

- The aetiology of sexual abuse

- How to prevent sexual abuse in committees and organizations

- How to develop appropriate safeguarding techniques

- How to support victims, people who are suspected of (or have been convicted) of a sexual offence

- How to talk to communities and families about sexual abuse.

Speakers will include:

Hayley Entrekin, EdD, LPC. (President of Georgia Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers)

Tyffani Monford Dent, Psy.D. (Monford Dent Consulting and Psychological Services LLC)

Ann Synder (Public Affairs Coordinator, ATSA)

Jocelyn Cooper (Georgia & East Coast Outreach Coordinator the Younique Foundation)

Professor Kieran McCartan (University of the West of England, UK)

ATSA members and the event will end with a chance to network with local ATSA Branches (Georgia ATSA).
