Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia

AND

 Introduction to Structured Literacy

Presented by The International Dyslexia Association- Oregon Branch.

This training includes a simulation, a presentation on understanding dyslexia, a movie based on the teachings of Diana King, and a presentation on structured literacy.  In addition, our award-winning student panel will share their knowledge and experiences.

This training meets the focus area of Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia as described in Senate Bill 612/1003 and is approved by the Oregon Department of Education. 

The training is $85 per person.  There is a discount of $10 per person if more than one educator is coming from a specific district or school.  Ticket includes a light breakfast and lunch.  The class has a minimum size of 20 and a maximum size of 35.  If the class does not reach the minimum, individuals fees will be reimbursed.

7 PDUs are available.

INTERNATIONAL DYSLEXIA ASSOCIATION - OREGON BRANCH

International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is an international organization that concerns itself with the complex issues of dyslexia.  IDA membership consists of a variety of professionals in partnership with people with dyslexia and their families and all others interested in The Association’s mission.

We believe that all individuals have the right to achieve their potential, that individual learning abilities can be strengthened and that social, educational and cultural barriers to language acquisition and use must be removed.

IDA actively promotes effective teaching approaches and related clinical educational intervention strategies for people with dyslexia.  We support and encourage interdisciplinary research.  We facilitate the exploration of the causes and early identification of dyslexia and are committed to the responsible and wide dissemination of research based knowledge.

International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is pleased to present a forum for information to benefit its constituents. It is IDA's policy to not recommend or endorse any specific program, product, institution, company, or instructional material, noting that there are a number of such that present the critical components of instruction as defined by IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. Any program, product, institution, company, or instructional material carrying IDA Recognized Accredited  seal meets IDA Standards.
