Understanding and overcoming school refusal - An online parent workshop
Overview
oin our “Understanding & Managing School Refusal” workshop, designed for parents and carers seeking practical strategies to support their child’s school engagement. The workshop covers:
- Developmental norms for specific age groups
- Regulation and the window of tolerance
- Common barriers and drivers of school non-attendance
- Practical strategies to address these challenges
This is an interactive workshop, allowing parents to engage in discussions, share experiences, and apply concepts in real time. There will also be dedicated time at the end for questions.
Facilitated by an experienced practitioner in Intensive Family Therapy, an accredited Triple P Parenting facilitator, who specialises in school non-attendance, this workshop draws on evidence-based approaches. The facilitator applies a bio-psycho-social framework, recognising the family system as the most powerful influence in a child’s development and engagement.
Participants should leave with a deeper understanding of school refusal, practical strategies to try at home, and confidence in supporting their child’s return to school.
