Uncovering Your Artistic Path : For Transgender and Non Binary Actors

A note from August:

As I began navigating the industry after coming out as non-binary, the main question I kept asking was: ‘How can I step into this environment and role while still feeling connected to who I truly am’. It has been an ongoing journey to find methods and perspectives that allow me to answer a personal YES to that question. It is now my passion to guide others as they find ways to answer this question for themselves, so that artists of all gender identities can feel empowered in their truthful value and voice as a storyteller.

This 3 hour intensive, geared towards the actor who identifies as non-binary and/or transgender (or currently exploring their identity) will challenge our assumptions about identity and how this impacts both our work as actors as well as how we move through the world.

Actors will be assigned materials upon arrival to work as a cold read. Tools and training specific to script breakdown, including drill work will be applied.

The workshop will also incorporate conversation around the unique challenges and opportunities of being transgender in relation to acting, including how to stay connected to your body, how to advocate for yourself, ways to communicate with your agent and more.
