The Virtual meeting will remain open from 12pm-1pm during lunch on the day of the event; you may stay logged in through lunch, or you may log out and return for the 2nd presentation (per your preference).


The 2025 Alumni and Friends Workshop is provided by the UNC Greensboro Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the proceeds go to UNCG's NSSLHA Chapter. All alumni, faculty, students and any friends who wish to attend are welcome. This event is made possible because of the Newton-Dodson Endowment.


Our Presenters

Marie Ireland, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BCS-CL is a Board-Certified Specialist in Child Language (BCS-CL) and served as the Virginia Department of Education’s specialist for speech language pathology, evaluation and eligibility and related services for 16 years. She has served as ASHA’s Vice President of SLP Practice (2018-2020) and on the executive board of the State Education Agencies Communication Disabilities Council. Her areas of interest include child language, evidence-based assessment, dynamic assessment. She has received the editor’s award in 2013 and 2021 for articles on Evidence-Based Practice in schools and has published works on SLP Practice in Schools.

Topic: From Criteria to Confidence: Aligning Research, Regulations, and Real-World Solutions for SLPs


Shari Robertson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, ASHA Honors and Fellow, Board Certified Specialist in Child Language, spent twenty years practicing in the schools and twenty-five years in academia. Robertson, the CEO of Dynamic Resources and the 2019 President of ASHA, has published numerous articles, book chapters, and clinical materials and is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker on topics such as language and literacy development, functional intervention strategies, counseling, advocacy, leadership, business management, imaginology, and self-care.

Certificate of Attendance

A Certificate of Attendance will be issued for each presentation, for a total of 6 hours of continuing education credit. Certificates will be emailed to you following completion of the surveys that will be distributed at the end of each presentation. ASHA CEUs are not provided, however, the Certificates of Attendance may be used as proof of participation if you are audited by ASHA or the NC Board of Examiners.
