Unburdened Collective

Unburdened Collective

By Jamie KP

Overview

A private club for Black women to hear more from one another about the ways we change our lives to reduce and/or eliminate stress.

"It would be usedful to Black women to hear more from one another about the ways we change our lives to reduce and/or eliminate stress." - bell hooks, Sisters of the Yam.

Unburdened Collective is built around that statement. A private home where Black women talk honestly about what's been heavy, how we've learned to make life lighter, and what peace looks like for us.

Through books, research and real conversations, we study what it looks like to care for ourselves and each other. Not in theory but in practice.

This Gathering: Boundaries. Where Peace Begins.

Inspired by "Set Boundaries,Find Peace" by Nedra Glover Tawwab.

This gathering is for the woman who's tired of overexplaining, saying yes when she means no, and carrying thins that were never hers to hold.

We'll talk about:

  • Signs you need boundaries.
  • How to set boundaries without guilt.
  • How to prtoect your peace and energey.
  • Real examples and talk-offsto help you practice in real time
  • Boundary affirmations

You'll move through an icebreaker, a guided task, and a group exercise designed to help you leave more confident than you came.

What to Expect

  • Privacy - phones away, no pictures, no post, just presence
  • A welcome package - small gifts and tools to use during the event and after
  • Guides task - simple practices to bring more peace into your life
  • Real conversations and connections - social media has us more connected online but lonelier in real life. Here we'll start to reconnect for real again.
  • Warm details - more about Unburndened Collective, relaxing playlist, food and drinks

From Our Last Gathering

Our first gathering, was a theme inspired by the book Sisters of the Yam by bell hooks. We focused on forgiveness and release by writing letters, sharing stories, and creating "recipe jars" filled with small ways to care for ourselves on hard days. See photos below.
