Join us for the opening reception of What the Water Told Me, a photography exhibition by Oleksandra Zborovska, on Monday, October 27th at 7:00pm at Teatro LATEA.
The exhibition documents the aftermath of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant destruction in Zborovska’s hometown of Zaporizhzhia. Working with black-and-white film, color film soaked in Dnipro River water, and cyanotypes, the artist allows nature itself to leave its mark—creating a powerful dialogue between memory, environment, and human experience.
The project captures the dramatic transformation of the riverbanks: dried shorelines, stranded boats, and dying ecosystems. These images, layered with the artist’s own memories of the landscape from childhood, offer both a personal and ecological lens on the war’s impact in southeastern Ukraine.
By merging documentary precision with experimental photographic processes, What the Water Told Me invites viewers to contemplate resilience, impermanence, and the enduring imprint of war on land and life.
Opening night will include remarks followed by the curated talk with the artist facilitated by Anastasia Gudko. Drinks and light bites from Veselka, a local Ukrainian restaurant will be served.
The exhibition will be on view daily from 3:00–6:00pm, October 26–30, and is free and open to the public.
This ticket purchase is for the opening reception on Monday, October 27th.
