The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth is an independent state agency that advocates for improvement in the quality of life for children and families; collects and disseminates information for the coordination of policies, programs, and services; and administrates and distributes funding for teen pregnancy prevention programs and for improvements in juvenile justice. The Commission staffs and coordinates nine regional councils, including the Upper Cumberland Council on Children and Youth. The regional councils address local needs of children and families; provides organizational structure for statewide networking on behalf of children and families and provides local input to the Commission. Council members include any professional or citizen interested in affecting the lives of Tennessee’s Children. The Upper Cumberland Council on Children and Youth, a non-partisan, non-profit organization, conducts four events per year and participates in many regional projects.
