SRPC™ Training invites you to apply for the SRPC® School Restorative Practice Coordinator Certificate, the first of its kind to be offered in Michigan. Apply now for this two-day live advanced school restorative practices coordinator training.

The School Restorative Practice Coordinator provides behavior intervention support to the entire school campus through consistent application of Michigan’s New Restorative Justice Law, and FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) procedures as guaranteed by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Duties may include training employees on behavior management techniques, facilitating restorative justice interventions (RAP), responding to student behavioral concerns, creating reports, supervising students and more.

Participants completing this interactive training will explore and deepen knowledge of and ability to:

  • Work directly with Administrators to assist in handling minor and major issues
  • Respond to incoming discipline referrals from teachers to assess appropriate response
  • Contact parents/guardians to invite and inform them about student-related restorative meetings
  • Inform and prepare participants for restorative circles and/or dialogues
  • Develop and Implement Restorative Actions Plans (RAP) before suspensions
  • Facilitate restorative processes throughout the entire school or district
  • Analytical problem solving using Restorative Practices methods
  • Develop strategies for working with all members of the school community
  • Follow-up on all restorative meetings to ensure agreements are upheld
  • Coordinate the delivery of restorative circles to classrooms as requested by school staff
  • Work with school PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support), Equity, Leadership, Data (etc.) teams to build and strengthen current practices
  • Provide participants, parents and appropriate staff with agreement/outcome of a restorative process
  • Provide regular RP updates at school staff meetings
  • Identify and build relationships with school, parent and community stakeholders
  • Work with families to support student success and promote greater engagement of families in the school
  • Model restorative classroom & discipline processes
