Hosted by Greenlight staff member Megan, our Tween Grade Book Group is geared toward kids ages 9 to 12, reading and discussing great contemporary and classic chapter books. Pizza is served!

For June, the group discusses Ellie Engle Saves Herself, a magical middle grade debut from award-winning author Leah Johnson. Shortlisted for the 2024 LGBTQ+ Middle Grade Lambda Literary Award, Ellie Engle Saves Herself is a laugh-until-you-cry, cry-until-you-laugh story about an ordinary girl whose life is turned upside down when a freak earthquake gives her the ability to bring anything back to life. Surviving middle school is hard enough. But surviving middle school when paparazzi are camped out on your front lawn, an international pop singer wants you to use your powers on live tv, and you might be in love with your best friend but she doesn’t know it? Absolutely impossible.
