Join us for a public workshop aimed at discovering common interests and shared goals for repurposing irrigated agricultural land to proactively tackle groundwater overdraft in the Tule Subbasin. We will focus on pinpointing overlapping or shared priorities and exploring innovative solutions that help farmers continue their work and support farmworkers, while also attracting funding for multi-benefit projects that facilitate these necessary transitions.

This is an opportunity for growers, landowners, Tribes, community residents, environmental groups, local government, and business owners to come together and share ideas on how and where to repurpose land in ways that provide the most benefit with the least negative impact. The identification of preferred solutions—such as recharge, open space around communities, solar farms, habitat restoration, low-water crops, and more—along with strategies will be explored and prioritized for technical, financial, and partnership support.

The range of shared priorities and ideas generated here will inform the MLRP Core Plan for GSA's in Subbasin, helping to align and coordinate the efforts of various landowners, organizations, and groups working in the Subbasin to develop solutions, projects, and the funding needed to implement them in the months and years ahead.

This workshop builds on the April 29th workshop, where we discussed the key challenges and needs of Tule Subbasin community members, including drinking water, economic viability, and resilient habitats. If you attended the first workshop, please join the June 10th workshop to continue the conversation. Your voice and local knowledge will drive the success of this program — let’s shape the future of our land and water together.

Agenda to Follow. Wraps or sandwiches and snacks provided.
