Tu B’Shevat Wire Tree Sculpture Workshop

Tu B’Shevat Wire Tree Sculpture Workshop

By Maine Jewish Museum

Overview

Choose your style — windswept, whimsical, classic, or abstract — and watch your vision take root, branch by branch.

Make something beautiful. Celebrate something meaningful.
Join us for a hands-on Tu B’Shevat workshop where you’ll twist, shape, and sculpt your very own wire tree — a perfect way to honor the Jewish “New Year of the Trees.”

Award-winning sculptor Ryan Kelley will walk you step-by-step through creating a miniature tree on a fist-sized rock base. Choose your style — windswept, whimsical, classic, or abstract — and watch your vision take root, branch by branch.

No experience needed.
All tools and materials provided.
Bring a rock or use one of ours.

This is a fun, meditative, and surprisingly addictive creative experience — and you’ll go home with a unique piece of art that celebrates growth, resilience, and the beauty of trees in winter.

Why Tu B’Shevat?
Tu B’Shevat invites us to pause, plant seeds (literally and figuratively), and reconnect with the natural world. Your handmade tree sculpture is a perfect take-home ritual object to keep those intentions alive all year.

About the Instructor

Ryan Kelley (Byfield, MA) transforms wire, wood, metal, and stone into striking sculptural works. A self-taught artist with hundreds of creations and commissions under his belt, Ryan is known for his signature trees made from hundreds — sometimes thousands — of individual wires. His art appears in homes, galleries, and public spaces throughout the United States and beyond.

Ryan’s work is rooted in patience, play, and a deep love for the natural world — making him the ideal guide for this Tu B’Shevat celebration of nature, creativity, and new beginnings.
