The Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing invites foster and adoptive caregivers to attend a virtual workshop on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). This virtual workshop covers content across two days. Registrants are encouraged to attend both days to receive full insight. TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children (Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development website). This interactive, 8-hour workshop will provide participants with an introduction to TBRI, Correcting, Empowering, and Connecting approach as developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross. Certificates of completion will be provided.
Objectives:
- Identify techniques in each of the three principles to use with their children.
- Explore their family history and self-awareness as they relate to their parenting style.
- Identify changes to a child’s environment that may help reduce stress.
- Enhance understanding of how to interpret behavior and respond appropriately.
- Recognize the difference between “safety” and “felt safety” and the importance of the distinction.
