Triple Threat: A Philly Style Tasting at OUTPOST

This Saturday, we are showing up BIG, and keeping it hyper local!

Starting the day off turning it up Sips & Spins style with Captain Kurt, easing into a Pop-Up with Busstop X and designer Elena Brennan, and rounding the afternoon out with a tasting featuring Philly Style Bagels, Sacred Vice Brewing, and Perrystead Dairy.

Inspired by tradition, Philly Style Bagels are slow fermented in small batches, hand rolled, and boiled before baking, but with an innovative process that bends the rules of bagel making. Inspired by the great beer culture of Philadelphia, these bagels are boiled in a mixture of beer and water for a special malted flavor. The results are so unique a new style was coined, named for the city where they were conceived. Philly Style Bagels are crunchy on the outside, yet soft on the inside with an unparalleled malty sweetness.

Cousins Justin and Matt launched Sacred Vice Brewing in 2018 inspired by shared family memories and the dream to become part of Philadelphia’s long and epic brewing history. They’ve been extremely blessed to join what’s one of the best beer neighborhoods in all of the US — the scene that’s developing on the north side of Philadelphia from Callowhill to Northern Liberties to Fishtown through Kensington. At heart, they’ve always been happy to make beer that they like to drink and share them with friends and family.

In 2021, Andrew “Ruby” Rubenstein joined them as partner and head brewer. Ruby has nearly two decades of award-winning brewing experience, most recently with 2SP Brewing in Delco and Iron Hill. Together, they plan on making even more beer they like to drink and share.

Perrystead Dairy is an urban Philadelphia creamery focusing on American original cheeses. Their work supports exceptional small local sustainable family dairy farms. They have earned over 22 international and domestic awards and their products can be found at some of the nation’s top retailers, specialty food purveyors, top restaurants, and hospitality venues.
