Triple Header Home Demo: Factory Farms Are Not Above The Law
Overview
Zoe Rosenberg’s rescue of four suffering chickens from Perdue's Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse has grabbed the world’s attention. For giving Poppy, Aster, Ivy, and Azalea their freedom, Zoe has lost hers. This jail sentence could be life-threatening for Zoe because of her type 1 diabetes and gastroparesis, which require specific medical equipment and care. When Zoe was initially arrested, the jail threatened to take away her insulin pump. Despite this risk to Zoe's life and the nonviolent nature of her actions, Sonoma County Judge Kenneth Gnoss nevertheless sentenced her to jail. Zoe's legal team, led by the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project (@AALDP_DU), filed a formal notice of appeal to appeal her conviction on several grounds, including that the court denied the necessity defense even though Zoe's actions were necessary to save Poppy, Aster, Ivy, and Azalea from imminent harm. But appeals take a long time and Zoe needs our help now. We’re calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Zoe a freezoe.org, and in her honor, we will organize a triple header of home demos of people who are instrumental in furthering animal abuse directly and a person who allows Sonoma County factory farms to operate above the law.Join us for a triple header of home demonstrations, beginning 200ft from the home of Scott Fitzpatrick, who oversees Perdue’s live chicken operations. Scott has declined to address the serious abuse happening under his supervision and has refused to sever ties with Perdue. Then we will go 200 feet from the home of Jason Arnold, Director of Operations at Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry. Jason has also refused to engage with us regarding the criminal animal cruelty taking place inside the Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse and has similarly failed to cut ties with Perdue. Finally, we’ll go to public property near the home of Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguz. Carla’s office neglects to prosecute criminal animal cruelty happening on Sonoma County factory farms, but prosecutes animal rescuers, like Zoe.Please join us in calling on Jason Arnold and Scott Fitzpatrick to cut ties with Perdue and Carla Rodriguez to not allow factory farms to be above the law as we nonviolently exercise our first amendment right to free speech. Afterwards, we’ll go to Amy’s Drive Through to grab a meal, paid for by DxE SF Bay Area.
