“Tribunals for users”? Exploring the concept of user-focused tribunals
Overview
25 years after Sir Andrew Leggatt’s review of tribunals identified “user focus” as one of the key principles that should underpin a reformed tribunal system, this event will chart how this idea has been implemented in practice.
The event will include:
· Lord Justice Dingemans, the recently appointed Senior President of Tribunals will provide a keynote speech
· Ash Patel (Programme Head, Justice) will provide an overview of the Nuffield Foundation’s new Public Right to Justice programme
· Professor Chris Gill, Professor Tom Mullen, Dr Jo Hynes and Dr Fanni Gyurko will present early findings from their research project Understanding and Developing User Focused Tribunal Hearings
A full agenda will be available shortly.
The event will be of interest to policymakers and practitioners interested in designing justice systems around users’ needs; tribunal judges, panel members, and administrators; legal advisers and representatives; civil society groups with an interest in the operation of tribunals across areas including housing, education and social security; academics working in the fields of access to justice and administrative justice.
