The task: we have 6 native tree species which need planting at our Mill Lane Meadows reserve. This will include the installation of tree stakes, deer guards and tree straps. We also have some tree guards to remove in the hedgerow.
The work will include helping the team to move the trees to their allocated location on site, to dig the holes for the trees, and strap the trees to a stake. Adding mulch to the trees after planting.
Removing the tree gaurds from the established hedgerow around the carpark is now required too, and these tree gaurds will be re-used on another reserve.
Who will be there? You will be working alongside our two Reserve Officers Gemma and Daisy. They are both first aid trained.
What to bring: Be prepared for the ground to be wet/muddy. Work gloves would be ideal (we will have spares if needed). Comfortable clothes to work in. Snacks and water.
Parking: Mill Lane has its own carpark and is clearly signed form the road. The What3words is agent.width.sneezed.
Other relevant information: The village hall have kindly offered to put on a simple lunch of veg/vegan soup for participants after the event. Gemma and Daisy will also bring hot drinks.
