Plant Street Trees with Oaklyn Shade Tree Committee!
Come join us for a fun day of planting 17 brand new street trees with the Oaklyn Shade Tree Committee! Let's work together to beautify our community and make a positive impact on the environment. No experience is necessary! All ages are welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear closed-toe shoes. We have extra gardening gloves! Any extra tools may be helpful!
Street trees offer significant environmental, economic, social, and health benefits by absorbing air pollutants and carbon dioxide, reducing stormwater runoff and flooding, providing cooling shade to lower energy costs and mitigate the urban heat-island effect, improving air quality which can reduce respiratory illnesses, increasing property values and fostering community connections, and creating more aesthetically pleasing and calmer streetscapes!
