Trauma Informed Parenting Workshop Part I
Event Information
About this Event
Hello and Welcome!
You are invited to participate in a Trauma Informed Parenting workshop, hosted by Small Town Counseling CA, Inc. This workshop will provide introductory information and tools to help you recognize and respond to behaviors that can result from a child or teen's exposure to distressing and/or traumatic experiences.
Who Should Attend: This workshop is intended for all caregivers providing care to children or teens who have experienced trauma.
Caregivers include biological, adoptive, and foster parents, relative caregivers (grandparents, extended family members), guardians, and family/friend supports.
*Please note this is for adults only. Child Care will not be available.
Why Trauma Informed Parenting? Caring for a child or teen who has experienced trauma can be difficult. Traumatic events can range anywhere from emotional, sexual, or physical trauma, to surviving a natural disaster, to experiencing distressing events at home or school. When a child or teen is exposed to one or more traumas, the effects can be long lasting. A child's response to trauma can lead a caregiver to feel baffled, isolated, or unsure of how to help their child and address the behaviors that have surfaced.
Understanding how traumatic situations impact children can help caregivers better understand how trauma impacts the brain, child and adolescent development, and emotion regulation. Learn more about how to create a safe and positive environment for your child by better understanding:
