About this event

Trash People exists to facilitate community connection and contribution in Chicago. Palmer Bar Runs organize fun-runs to a different local bar in Logan Square each week. Join us as we take on the craze sweeping the nation together - PLOGGING!!

What is plogging you say? We think it is 'picking up litter while jogging'. Come looking sporty, folks, as you'll be working up a sweat with this one.

What to expect:

  • We'll meet at 6pm at 'the hand' in Palmer Square Park.
  • We'll split into smaller groups, each to tackle a different route to our end spot - Billy Sunday!
  • Groups will jog or walk the route, cleaning up as we go. Fun, right!
  • We love to be sociable! Plan to hang out with us for a drink afterwards, or come join us at the bar even if you don't take part in the clean up portion of the event. All welcome!
  • Please note that our events are weather dependent. Keep an eye on our Instagram (@trashpeopleoflogansquare) and your emails for event updates, as we will cancel the night before if weather looks bad.
  • Everyone is welcome, and we hope you'll join us, especially if you haven't been before! We are a friendly bunch and exist not only to contribute to our community, but to make new friends within it, too :)

If you have any questions, the best way to reach us is via Instagram @trashpeopleoflogansquare. If you don't have Instagram, feel free to email us at hello@trashpeople.org

What to bring

  • Please do check the weather and bring appropriate clothing/supplies - specifically you may like to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer. Be sure to wear comfortable and weather-appropriate shoes.
  • If you have a grabber, gloves, spare trash bags, or a bucket, it'd help us if you bought it along! If not, no worries - as long as you've RSVP'd, we'll have spares for you :)
  • If you want to bring a friend, please also have them register via the Eventbrite link so we can plan accordingly - we also need all attendees to acknowledge our waiver.

What not to bring

  • We love pets, but you'll need both hands, and we'll be working near busy streets! We regret dogs aren't allowed to join Trash People events, but you're very welcome to show us pictures :)
  • For safety reasons, our events are adult-only (18+). We'll consider opening this up in future, but for now we appreciate your understanding.
  • If the event is fully booked, please add yourself to the waitlist or join us for the next one! In order to keep the group manageable for our organizers, to ensure we have enough supplies, and to ensure all participants have reviewed our disclaimers, we require all attendees to have formally RSVPd.

Frequently asked questions

What if the weather is bad?

We want all of our events to be fun and enjoyable, so if the weather is particularly bad, we'll mostly likely cancel. By registering on eventbrite, you'll receive email updates for any event changes, but we also post updates on our Instagram in real time.

Do I need to bring anything to Trash People clean ups?

Nope! We provide grabbers, gloves and bags - although if you'd like to bring your one, or donate any supplies to the group, that's great too! Please check in with us before you donate any items to be sure that it's something we need and can keep hold of.

How can I get more involved with Trash People?

We love the help and are always keen to hear from people who want to help lead our clean ups and other projects that we run. If you'd like to volunteer with us in a bigger capacity than our clean ups, drop us an email at hello@trashpeople.org and we'll get back to you to chat!
