This time our facilitated portion of the night before the jam will be lead by jindi zhang! They will lead some warm ups and partner/group time. Check out their bio below!

jindi (they/them) is a dancer, educator, photographer, and bartender. they've lived in the bay area the last four years, and resided in ohio and virginia before that.

in charting the movement of everything that has changed them! in the last few years they have been changed by the feeling of two collarbones pressed against each other (contact improv), intentional falls towards the floor (in dance), Megan Fernandes’ book “I Do Everything I Am Told”, and the slow drip of lime as it is being clarified.

jindi believes good teaching occurs when a teacher brings in the things that are closest to them. through this workshop they hope to bring a facilitation that deepens/ builds on / explores dancers understanding of edges, beauty, and the gaze

Please be on time if you can! We will have an opening circle to orient everyone to the space & exhchange names/pronouns. Then we'll move into some gently facilitated warm-up time before moving into the jam during the second hour.

Join us at Wildcat Studio to move, play, dance with other trans and queer folks... no dance/movement experience is required. This space was born out of the desire to have an exclusive movement improv space for queer people that centers trans bodies to build comfort and trust outside of a cis/het centric space. This is our fourth offering, so if you LOVE it let us know and we will keep doing it. The longer term vision is to be able to to bring in different trans/queer movement facilitators at the beginning of the events for some gentle facilitation before having an open jam floor. Contact improv may be an option in this space but is never requried, and CI elements will be approached from a consent-oriented and queer centered way. We plan to have live instrumental musicians if possible, and recorded music as part of the soundscape.
